DESCRIPTION:EVENT INFO \nThe TYDAX Fitness Okanagan Valley Throwdown is the original Throwdown Series event. It is presented by Hoodoo Adventure Company and Evolution Athletics. 2018 will be its fifth year and it will once again take place at Penticton’s 5\,000 seat indoor arena\, the South Okanagan Events Centre. \nThe CrossFit-style event involves athletes competing across several different team and individual divisions in a two day competition. Also included at the event are various food vendors and a broad range of fitness-minded companies from across Canada and the Okanagan. \nDuring each Throwdown Series event\, male and female athletes compete within various individual and team divisions over two days of competition. They face a series of workouts that are designed to accommodate novice to elite functional fitness athletes. Each event is programmed uniquely using movements that include weightlifting\, powerlifting\, medicine ball and kettlebell training\, rowing\, running\, skipping\, plyometrics\, and gymnastics. The programming tests and rewards well-rounded functional fitness. DESCRIPTION:BUY TICKETS: http://bit.ly/2xA7iE9 \nThe country’s best women’s curling teams will not only be chasing a Canadian championship\, they’ll also be playing under a new format at the 2018 Scotties Tournament of Hearts in Penticton\, B.C. \nThe Canadian women’s curling championship is scheduled for Jan. 27-Feb. 4 at the South Okanagan Events Centre\, and will feature\, for the first time\, a 16-team field. \nThe action off the ice in Penticton in 2018 will be just as hot\, as the rollicking party known as the HeartStop Lounge will be right next door to the arena at the Penticton Trade and Convention Centre. Along with the opportunity to meet face-to-face with the athletes\, the HeartStop Lounge will offer live music\, dancing\, drinks\, and food\, as well as interactive activities for the entire family. \nAll 14 Member Associations (10 provinces\, three territories and Northern Ontario) will be represented in the main field in Penticton\, as the pre-qualifying process will end at the 2017 Scotties in St. Catharines. Additionally\, the defending champion Team Canada will be in the field\, while the process to determine the 16th entry will be decided at a later date. \nThe 16 teams will be split into two pools for the first phase of round-robin play\, with the top four teams from each pool then advancing to a crossover championship pool.
