SUMMARY:Dallas Smith with special guests Michael Ray and Lauren Alaina
DESCRIPTION:Platinum selling country star and 604 Records recording artist\, Dallas Smith\, is pleased to announce the 2017 “Side Effects Tour”\, presented by Old Camp Whiskey will be stopping at the South Okanagan Events Centre in Penticton on Friday\, November 17th. The national tour will be kicking off in Halifax on October 12th and will make stops in 26 cities across the country before wrapping in Abbotsford on November 18th. Special guests\, Lauren Alaina and Michael Ray\, will join Smith in Penticton this upcoming November. The “Side Effects Tour” announcement comes on the heels of Smith’s fourth #1 single at Canadian country radio with “Sky Stays This Blue”\, a first for a Canadian male country artist. \nAppealing to audiences far beyond the boundaries with sonic layers and a stadium sized voice\, Smith not only celebrates his fourth #1 single at Country radio in Canada\, but becomes the first Canadian artist in both the Nielsen BDS and Mediabase era to have three consecutive #1 singles and the first Canadian country artist to have three #1 singles from the same album (Side Effects). \nSmith’s top-selling album “Side Effects” – released one year ago and produced by studio ace and long-time collaborator Joey Moi (Florida Georgia Line) – features 12 tracks\, including the albums first #1 single “Autograph” (the only #1 track from a Canadian Country artist in 2016) and the #1 hit “Side Effects”. The album showcases Smith’s incredible artistry and confirms he’s in his own lane – earning critical acclaim\, commercial success and one of the most talked about journeys in Canadian country music. \nCurrently nominated for four Canadian Country Music Association Awards including Male Artist of the Year\, Single of the Year\, Album of the Year and the Apple Music Fans’ Choice Award\, Smith will take the stage for what will surely be another memorable performance when the CCMA Awards show hits Saskatoon on September 10th. \nFor more information on Dallas Smith visit www.DallasSmithMusic.com \nTickets for Dallas Smith with special guests Michael Ray and Lauren Alaina at the South Okanagan Events Centre go on sale Friday\, August 25th at 10 AM. SUMMARY:TYDAX Fitness Okanagan Valley Throwdown - Day 2
DESCRIPTION:EVENT INFO \nThe TYDAX Fitness Okanagan Valley Throwdown is the original Throwdown Series event. It is presented by Hoodoo Adventure Company and Evolution Athletics. 2018 will be its fifth year and it will once again take place at Penticton’s 5\,000 seat indoor arena\, the South Okanagan Events Centre. \nThe CrossFit-style event involves athletes competing across several different team and individual divisions in a two day competition. Also included at the event are various food vendors and a broad range of fitness-minded companies from across Canada and the Okanagan. \nDuring each Throwdown Series event\, male and female athletes compete within various individual and team divisions over two days of competition. They face a series of workouts that are designed to accommodate novice to elite functional fitness athletes. Each event is programmed uniquely using movements that include weightlifting\, powerlifting\, medicine ball and kettlebell training\, rowing\, running\, skipping\, plyometrics\, and gymnastics. The programming tests and rewards well-rounded functional fitness. At the end of the weekend\, the individual or team with the best overall fitness level in each division comes out on top. \nTHE SPORT OF FITNESS \nFor the past several years\, CrossFit has been a mainstay as one of the fastest growing sports in the world. In 2016\, its biggest annual competition drew over 324\,000 competitors from participating gyms in 142 different countries around the world. Thanks to a devout following and its dynamic competition style\, it also continues to gain steam as a popular spectator sport. With a world-class venue and professional quality production\, the Throwdown Series offers a one-of-a-kind experience for both athletes and spectators that want to take part in the global rise of the sport of fitness. \nFor more information\, please visit: http://www.throwdownseries.ca/ovt

SUMMARY:Rock The Bid - 2018 Scotties Tournament of Hearts
DESCRIPTION:A group of volunteers is urging BC curling fans to “Rock the Bid” and help them bring the Scotties Tournament of Hearts\, one of Curling Canada’s premier events\, to Penticton in 2018. The Penticton host committee has until June 30 to submit a bid on to Curling Canada. \nThe SOEC is perfect for the event as the competition venue and the Penticton Trade and Convention Centre\, where the Party (the Patch) will be held\, are connected via an enclosed walkway. We are confident that we can put on a first class event. We just need the public to get behind this and purchase a full event pass” said Kirkham. \nAn event of this magnitude will bring a significant economic benefit to the City of Penticton\, during a time of year when it is really needed. Along with national television exposure and an opportunity to highlight the area\, there will be an arena audience expected to be in excess of 80\,000 over the 8 days of competition. Attendees will provide economic spinoffs through hotel stays\, shopping\, dining and other tourism activities. Economic benefit to this event is estimated to be $6-$12M. \nA host of volunteers\, along with the City of Penticton and the SOEC were successful in conducting a previous Curling Canada event\, the 2013 Continental Cup and demonstrated that the facilities\, services and volunteer base were excellent and well positioned to host a bigger event\, like the Scotties. \nTo show it has the support of curling fans\, the committee has set a goal of collecting 1\,000 deposits of $100 each on full event tickets\, for the 2018 Scotties Tournament of Hearts\, before June 20. \nA strong response\, over the next 6 weeks\, will greatly increase the chance of a successful bid. Orders can be placed at Valley First Box office at the SOEC\, via phone at 1-877-SOEC.TIX (250-763-2849) or ValleyFirstTix.com. Additional information on the event can be viewed at www.rockthebid.com.

DESCRIPTION:GET TICKETS: http://bit.ly/2igl4oX \nAcclaimed country rockers\, Old Dominion\, announce their headlining ‘Happy Endings’ world tour for 2018\, with the first leg of dates set to kick off on February in Canada. Canadian country groups\, The Washboard Union and Cold Creek County\, are set to open for Old Dominion at the South Okanagan Events Centre in Penticton\, BC\, on February 11th\, 2018. \nThe band recently received an American Music Awards nomination for “Favorite Duo or Group—Country” and two nominations for the Country Music Association Awards for “New Artist of the Year” and “Vocal Group of the Year.” Front-man Matthew Ramsey says of the exciting year\, “We are taking OD WORLDWIDE! We can’t wait to get out there and see what kind of Old Dominion fans we have around the world. It’s amazing when we hear from our fans out there – so we couldn’t be more excited to bring our music to them face to face.” \nThe announcement of their world tour follows the release of their acclaimed sophomore album Happy Endings\, which debuted at #1 on Billboard’s Top Country Albums chart and at #7 on the Top 200 following its release. A follow up to their RIAA GOLD-certified debut\, Meat and Candy\, and produced again by GRAMMY Award-winning songwriter and producer Shane McAnally\, Happy Endings includes their current single “Written in The Sand” and “No Such Thing As a Broken Heart”\, which hit #1 on Billboard Country Airplay. \nAbout Old Dominion:\nProving that they are not your average country band\, Old Dominion blends old-fashioned country charm\, lyrical wit and rock n’ roll grit into radio-friendly\, hook-heavy pop nuggets. The band has emerged as one of the hottest breaking bands in country music\, fusing clever lyrics and an infectious sound. Old Dominion released their first full length album Meat and Candy\, which was certified GOLD by the RIAA and hailed a “stellar debut “by Entertainment Weekly and declared “one of the hottest breaking bands in county music” by Vice.
